Description

Safety and Health at Work Act of 7 August 1996 (Federal Law Gazette I p. 1246), as last amended by Article 8 of the Act of 19 October 2013 (Federal Law Gazette I p. 3836)

This Act serves to implement the following EU Directives: Council Directive 89/391/EEC of 12 June 1989 on the introduction of measures toencourage improvements in the safety and health of workers at work (OJ L 183, 29.6.1989, p. 1) and Council Directive 91/383/EEC of 25 June 1991 supplementing the measures to encourage improvements in the safety and health at work of workers with a fixed-duration employment relationship or a temporary employment relationship (OJ L 206, 29.7.1991, p. 19).

This Act was adopted by the German Bundestag with the consent of the Bundesrat by means of Article 1 of the Act of 7 August 1996 (Federal Law Gazette I p.1246). Pursuant to Article 6 of that Act it entered into force on 21 August 1996. Section 6 (1) enters into force on 21 August 1997.
